Steve McNeil

Steve is a highly accomplished actor and comedian, and is one half of comedy double act McNeil and Pamphilon, stars and creators of Dara O'Briain's Go 8 Bit on Dave. He was part of the 2007 Perrier Award-winning Brendon Burns show So I Suppose This Is Offensive Now? in Edinburgh, the West End and Montreal. And is the co-creater (with computer genius King Rob Sedgebeer) of WiFi Wars, a live interactive comedy gaming show that achieved a Guinness World Record, appeared on BBC Breakfast, BBC Click, and toured around the country in 2016. The show now also broadcasts regularly as an online show, allowing viewers across the world to compete against each other, live!, under the banner, The Video Game Game Show Show!

He appeared with the Peter Hall Company in Michael Frayn’s Balmoral and in the world premiere of his translation of Chekhov’s Plots at Hampstead Theatre. Other theatre includes work at the Almeida, Hull Truck and the Leicester Square Theatre.

As part of McNeil and Pamphilon he has created three Edinburgh shows, culminating in the wildly successful Go 8 Bit, which began as a late night show at the Edinburgh Fringe 2013, featured at the major EGX conference at Earls Court, and now is in it's third season on Dave as Dara O'Briain's Go 8 Bit. This has also spawned the side show also on Dave, Go 8 Bit DLC, hosted by Steve, Sam Pamphilon  and Ellie Gibson. To date, the show has aired for 26 episodes over three series, plus 10 for its companion show “Go 8 Bit DLC”.

Steve is currently writing a comprehensive book about the history of videogames, “Hey! Listen”, for release in April 2019.

He is also a regular contributor to various gaming programmes and magazines including boadcasting live gameplay several times a week on Twitch.tv
